tennis court marquee hire marquees on tennis courts

Did you know that a tennis court is a fantastic space for a marquee build? The surface is flat and there’s plenty of space too – probably more that you think!

It’s a miss-conception that you need an uninterrupted, perfectly flat area of lawn to house a marquee; just have a read of this blog to discover the huge variety of locations and spaces into which a marquee can be built.

In fact, many people have the perfect location for a marquee build right under their noses – no, not literally… they have a tennis court.

Tennis courts can house large marquees

We regularly build marquees on tennis courts. A standard tennis court is actually large enough to house a marquee that will comfortably accommodate 250 guests. Surprised? Well, you’ll be amazed to know that that figure is for a formal, seated dinner with dancing too… Perfect for weddings.

Another surprising fact is that the space is also big enough to house the attached caterer’s marquee.

Tennis courts offer great access

Because you’ll already have footpaths leading to your tennis court, access for your guests will be easy. You’re not likely to have to worry about guests traipsing across wet or muddy lawns in their best shoes if the weather isn’t perfect on the day.

Access for the marquee build should be straightforward too. Tennis courts are usually easily accessible for the purposes of maintenance. This means that elements such as furniture, bar and portable toilet trailer delivery will be simple too.

Site preparation

There are a few things that you’ll need to do in order to get your tennis court ready to host a marquee.

Firstly, although we guarantee all of our work, we’d suggest that you check with your maintenance company or court supplier that your court is suitable for housing a marquee. When it comes to protecting the court’s surface, we can put down used marquee carpet as a barrier between our metal framework and the surface of your court.

Secondly, you’ll probably need to remove the wire fence that surrounds it. However, the fence posts can stay in place and will come in useful for hanging bunting, floristry and festoon lighting for example.

Finally, you’ll also want to have the net and net posts removed. We’d suggest that you use your tennis court service and maintenance company for this.

There is more information in this blog too.

Flooring for marquees on tennis courts

We use boarded wooden flooring when we build marquees on tennis courts. The boarded flooring is covered with a brand new piece of marquee carpet for a luxury finish. Boarded wooden flooring not only looks great, but it protects the surface of your tennis court too.
