Autumn party themes

Are you looking for some inspiration for your autumn party? Autumn is a wonderful time of year for events. The heat of the summer has faded, the weather is clear, crisp and fresh and the trees are a riot of colour – providing perfect inspiration for autumn party themes and décor… and there’s plenty of delicious, hearty seasonal produce to inspire your menus too.

Autumn party colour palettes

An autumn party can have a very special feel. Stylish, summer party and wedding themes give way to something altogether warmer and cosier.

Autumnal party colour palettes of oranges, yellows, reds and burgundies feel incredibly inviting, and fabrics and textures emphasize this even more. Within marquees, linings and drapery have a way of creating a very warm and intimate environment, even in a space that can hold over a hundred guests.

Autumn party themes

Autumn party theme marqueeLet’s get the obvious out of the way first. Halloween – a great excuse for a party,  and rich with endless ideas for dressing a marquee.
Pumpkins, bats, cobwebs, eerie lighting, trick-or-treat party food, and a marquee full of guests in fancy dress will make for a party that lasts way beyond the witching hour!

Looking for something less obvious? How about Oktoberfest?
This Bavarian beer festival runs from late September into October and attracts people from all over the world. Increasingly, Oktoberfest is also being emulated throughout the UK – it’s clearly popular so would be a great theme for a party.

Rustic wooden features such as benches and barrels decorated with hops and seasonal flowers, straw bales, blue and white gingham tablecloths will all work together to create Bavaria inside a marquee.

If you’re celebrating an autumnal birthday, or anniversary then why not let the season dictate the theme? We’ve already mentioned those glorious, warm and cosy autumnal colours, but the season should guide your menu choices too.

Autumnal menus

Autumn party menuSeptember and October mark the beginning of Game season. Consider menus that feature pheasant, duck and goose. Cornish Sea Bass is a favourite fish during the autumn months – they’re at their prime after a summer of feasting in the clear Cornish waters. And oysters are always at their best in months with an R. When it comes to meat and fish we’re rather spoilt for choice at this time of year.

Shopping for fruit and vegetables in supermarkets generally means that you can buy whatever you fancy all year round, but those in the food business know that seasonal produce always tastes better.

What’s more, season and Locally sourced products are great for the environment and for the local economy too. Autumn recipes often feature wild mushrooms, cauliflower, pumpkin and squash, blackberries and apples. Ask your caterer about the local, seasonal produce that’s currently available.

Autumn party marquees

Create a beautiful and unique space for your autumn party. Our marquees are a far cry from the fragile, flapping structures that might spring to mind. Built to withstand anything the Great British weather cares to throw at them, Lifestyle marquees’s marquees – combined with discreet heating and boarded flooring – ensure that your guests can party the night away without worrying about what’s going on outside.

The best thing about a marquee? You can theme it however you please! We build marquees every week and never cease to be amazed by the transformations that happen once they’ve been dressed.
