Planning corporate events

If you’re ever tasked with planning corporate events then you’ll understand the challenges involved. If you’re an experienced event planner, perhaps a marketing manager, who regularly organises exhibitions or promotional events, then the challenge may not be quite so daunting. But event planning isn’t something that sits naturally alongside the day to day duties of many of the people that are asked to pull an event together.

There are many different types of company event

And each requires a different approach and a different level of planning experience. Organising a team building event is very different from organising the company Christmas party or a sales event such as an exhibition or product launch.

Planning events can be time consuming. Especially tricky if it’s a duty that’s additional to your usual daily routines. And not everyone has access to a team of helpers, so delegating organisational duties may not always be possible. But don’t fear, help is at hand if you need it…

Event management companies

No matter how experienced you are there’s a good chance that you’ll need help with at least one area of event organisation. Events are time consuming. Pulling a large scale event together can be a full time job. There are specialist event management companies such as MGN events, who can help you pull everything together. Event managers usually tailor their services to your requirements. This means that they can do as much or as little as you like.

From venue sourcing to full event production and everything in between.  Event management companies can act as an extra pair of hands or they can take control of the entire event. A good event manager will manage your budget and keep you updated with progress throughout the entire process.

If you feel out of your depth or if you simply need support then speak to an event management company. They may well be able to offer you the help that you need.

Venues

A good venue can make a huge difference. A venue such as the DeVere in Horsley, has a team of experienced event professionals on hand to help. A venue’s in house team will offer advice, source equipment and set up AV and sound equipment too.

The venue is also likely to have a list of recommended suppliers that they can refer you to. These could be specialist AV or lighting companies, marquee suppliers, caterers or furniture hire companies. The list goes on; ask any venue that you are considering using about the different ways that they can support your event.

Marquees are interesting venues. They are extremely versatile and can be adapted to offer break out rooms, meeting rooms, presentation and entertaining spaces. As with a traditional bricks and mortar venue, a marquee supplier will know and advise on all of the different types of supplier that you’re likely to need.

A marquee can be erected at your offices and can be set up to suit you and your company surroundings. Creating your own on site venue can mean savings in areas such as accommodation and ground hire fees. But perhaps more importantly, it means that your venue will be familiar and comfortable for you and your staff.
