Garden parties are a wonderful way to make the most of the great outdoors. Whilst our summertime isn’t always the most reliable, when the sun does grace us with its presence, there are few more beautiful place to be than a British garden!
Gather friends and family
Who doesn’t enjoy socialising in the sunshine? Make the most of your outdoor space and invite your closest friends and family over for a garden party.
Get the barbecue going, put the drinks on ice, stick up some bunting and enjoy! Garden parties are great, and post pandemic, a fantastic way to celebrate being able to gather together again. And for those still wary of being around large groups, garden parties are outdoor occasions, offering plenty of space that should help them to feel more comfortable.
Make the most with a marquee
Marquees provide a focal point at garden parties. They give guests a space to centre activities around. They’re a great place for a bar, some casual seating, buffet tables and the perfect place to shelter from the sun.
Of course, if the weather gods are not on our side, then a marquee is a great place to hide from rain showers too!
We’re not suggesting a large marquee – we’re talking garden parties after all – but smaller, attractive structures, such as pagoda marquees.
Pagoda marquees – sometimes referred to as ‘Chinese hat marquees’, are great for garden parties. They are stunningly attractive, with peaked tops, and can be used alone or in clusters.
And if you’re planning on a larger event, they can also be added to other marquees to create a pretty focal point and reception space.
Don’t forget furniture
There can’t be many of out there with a shed full of garden furniture, just waiting for the chance to host a garden party. And if you don’t want to drag your lovely dining set outside, then consider hiring some garden furniture sets for your guests to use.
If you want a more rustic theme, then companies such as ‘To have and to hire’ offer hay bales, barrel poseur tables and bars for hire. Perfect for informal seating and a fun causal garden party flavour!
And don’t forget your trestle tables either. Garden parties aren’t complete without buffets; you can hire trestle tables along with the rest of your garden furniture sets.
If you are hiring in professional caterers, it’s worth checking whether they require trestles, or any other furniture, for serving, and whether they are able to source or supply these themselves.
Alternatively, when it comes to bar hire, you could go for a full on festival feel and hire your bar from ‘Beetlejuice’, who offer a choice from a huge fleet of specially adapted Volkwagen camper van bars, complete with staff and an ultra cool vibe!
Perfect entertainment for garden parties

Singing waiters, caricature artists and magicians are a really fun way to add flavour to garden parties. And when we say magician, we’re not talking cringeworthy acts of the 1980’s, were thinking Dynamo, David Blaine and the like.
